Human Resources Director

POSITION SUMMARY

This role directs and coordinates the company’s human resource activities such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, coaching, policy administration, employee development and employee services, and acts as a liaison between the company and outside legal and professional resources to ensure that all employment policies follow current laws and regulations. 

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, recommend and administer human resource plans, policies and procedures
  • Create and update job requirements and job descriptions
  • Implement and revise the company’s compensation program; conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions
  • Maintain and revise the company’s handbook on policies and procedures
  • Administers benefits, payroll and wellness program
  • Maintain affirmative action programs
  • Oversee recruitment efforts, onboarding, orientation, training and testing; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews
  • Maintain historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system; company directory and other organizational charts
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; hearing and resolving grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintain employee benefits programs, studying and assessing benefit needs and trends and providing program recommendations to management; directing the processing of benefit claims; obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; designing and conducting benefit educational programs for employees
  • Ensure legal compliance with federal, state and local labor laws and regulations, keeps management apprised of all applicable labor legislation, and conducts investigations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree required; Human Resources, Organization Development or related business field
  • 5+ years’ experience in a human resources progressive leadership position
  • People oriented, results driven, demonstrated experience with HR metrics
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws
  • Exceptional communication, coaching and interpersonal relationship-building skills, and a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment and knowledge of HR systems
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes.
